About Customer Service
Leesburg, the largest city in Lake County, covering 37.7 square miles and was incorporated in 1923.
In addition to many other services, the City also provides municipally owned utility services.
The City Commission established the Utility Service Area which serves the areas north to Eagles
Nest Road, west to the Lake/Sumter County Line, south to Royal Highlands and east to Bassville Park.
The utility services are governed by the City Commission, which under existing Florida law has
the exclusive authority to establish electric rates. The Florida Public Service Commission has the
authority to approve rate structures for the Gas, Electric, and Telecommunications municipal utilities.
The City Commission holds public meetings on the second and fourth Monday of each month in the
Commission Chamber at City Hall, 501 W. Meadow Street.
