The Leesburg City Commission is the legislative branch of the City Government and operates in accordance with the provisions of Article I, Section 6 of the City Charter. The City Commission is responsible for enacting ordinances and resolutions, and approving contracts that the City Manager administers as chief executive officer.

The City Commission is comprised of 5 citizens elected to staggered terms. An ordinance enacted in 2003 is in the process of changing the terms of office from 3 year terms to 4 year terms to coincide with the general elections. The 2 Commissioners elected to office At-large, during the November 2002 Election, are serving 3 year terms. Seats 4 & 5 At-Large, beginning with the November 2006 General Election, will take their seats for 4 years beginning in January 2007. The Commissioners elected to office for Districts 1 & 3, during the November 2004 General Election, will take their seats in January 2005 for a 4 year term. The Commissioner elected to office for District 2, during the November 2006 General Election, will take that seat in January 2007 for a 4 year term.

City Commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the Commission Chambers, Third Floor, City Hall, 501 W. Meadow Street. Additional meetings and workshops may be scheduled as needed. All meetings are open to the Public to participate in our legislative process.
