The purpose of this position is to perform skilled to highly skilled technical work in the processing, quality assurance and maintenance of municipal utility geographical data. This is accomplished through research, gathering source material, data entry, digitizing and running custom software. Employees in this position have considerable knowledge of software, hardware, peripheral equipment and terminology related to GIS, and utilities. The incumbent interfaces with departments to determine GIS requirements, provide technical support and training, produces maps, reports, and supporting documentation. Requires an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college with a minimum with three (3) year of experience in working in GIS and applications; or any equivalent combination of vocational training and experience demonstrating skills in spatial data analysis, drafting, surveying, mapping, related GIS focus, and working knowledge of modern GIS programs (i.e., Current releases of ESRI ArcGIS), Enterprise Databases and Web Maps . Programming languages SQL, VB and others preferred. Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) preferred.
