Incident Reports

Incident Reports

Copies of police incident reports are available to the public pursuant to Florida’s Sunshine Law found in Chapter 119 of Florida statutes. In many cases the entire report is available as public record except where statutory exemptions apply. Some records may be redacted in accordance with Florida law to protect the personal information of victims of certain crimes and juveniles, or to protect criminal investigative information or intelligence. In most cases, copies of police reports are available within 48 hours of the reported incident.

Copies of reports may be requested in person at the police department, by phone or by email police records.  Additionally requests may be mailed to the Leesburg Police Department (address located below). Please be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for us to return your request. When requesting a police report via email or regular mail, please be sure to include enough information for us to locate the report. The event number or case number is best, but we also can locate reports by name and date of birth, or by the incident location, date and time.

911 calls and radio traffic are available also upon request; however, phone and radio traffic is maintained on our server for only 90 days. Our preferred method of delivery is for the requesting party to provide a blank CD and a self-addressed, stamped envelope with sufficient postage for us to return the CD.  911 calls will be redacted in accordance with Florida law to protect the privacy of the caller.
