Wag Your Own Tale, Storytelling Class at Leesburg LibrarySome kids are born storytellers, but even the best "tellers" need to learn how to shape their stories. Kids from 5th grade through early teens are invited to join a two part class at the Leesburg Public Library, at 6:30 PM on October 5 and 19. During the first session, students will choose a story to learn from the library's collection of folktales, learn some basic rules for storytelling, and practice "storyboarding" their story. During the second session, new "tellers" will join in a story circle to share their story. Everyone is invited to attend. Special guest Jeremy Evans will also talk about Youthful Voices, the youth telling arm of the National Storytellers Network.
Participants must be pre-registered, and there are limited spaces available. This class helps scouts to earn badges, but it is also open to the public. Call Youth Services Supervisor Lois Gross at 728-9790 for more information or to register your child. Children must be able to read and have a library card in good standing to take part in the class.
