Family Tree HelpHaving trouble finding those elusive female ancestors? Need help tracing Native American ancestry? Just want to get started on researching your family tree? Come to the Leesburg Library’s Genealogy After Hours event on Saturday, October 21st between 5 and 9 pm. For a $10 donation to the Friends of the Library, you will get a full evening of genealogy, including:
- 6:00 pm: "Those Elusive Female Ancestors" presented by Joan Holloway, past-president of the Kinseekers Genealogical Society
- 7:00 pm: "Researching Native American Ancestry" presented by Patricia Wickman, noted ethnohistorian and author of several books, including "So You Think There's a Seminole in Your Family Tree?" Dr. Wickman serves as Consultant in Cultural Preservation to the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
- 5 – 9 pm: Library staff members and genealogy volunteers will be available to provide assistance. Participants will have full access to print materials, microfilm equipment, copiers, and computer programs. The Friends of the Library will provide light refreshments in the Meeting Room.
