The Road Patrol Division is the backbone of the department. This division consists of 41 officers,
five corporals, four sergeants, two lieutenants and one major whose primary function is answering calls
for service within the community. Our Road Patrol Division handles approximately 4,500 calls for service
each month. These calls for service include everything from chasing an escaped 6ft monitor lizard
terrorizing a local neighborhood to traffic violations and criminal offenses.
In 2005 the Road Patrol Division answered 54,678 calls for service, effecting approximately
3,218 felony, misdemeanor and non-criminal arrests. Officers also issued 9,541 traffic citations and
logged over 15,450 hours of in-service and specialized training.
To better handle the unique demands on modern law enforcement, our Patrol Division also includes
several specialized units. These units include our T.A.C.C. Team (T.A.C.C. stands for 'Targeting
Areas of Community Concern'), S.W.A.T. Team ('Special Weapons And Tactics'),
Motor Patrol,
and K-9 Unit.
