Agreement Guidelines

Plot holders will sign a contract agreement with the city to reserve a plot in the community garden. The following are the guidelines in this agreement:

  • Each 15’x20’ plot requires a $20.00 deposit, which will be refunded when the one-year-contract expires only if the plot is in clean condition (no tools, weeds or debris, and all crops harvested and plants removed).
  • Plots must have weeds maintained so as to prevent spreading weed seeds into neighboring plots. Plots that are not maintained will be given a warning, and if plot holder does not clean up their plot in 7 days their contract will be canceled, and deposit shall be forfeited.
  • Plot holders shall put away all gardening implements when they leave the site, they can be stored in the sheds provided at the site.
  • No manure or chemicals are to be used in the garden area unless they are rated for organic gardening.
  • Plot holders will only harvest from their own plot(s).
  • No pets are to be brought into the garden.
  • If children are brought into the garden they will be closely supervised, and their guardian is responsible for their behavior, as well as any damage that may be incurred.
  • Illegal crops are forbidden to be grown in the garden.
  • Alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs are forbidden in the garden area.
  • Use of cell phones and radios must be non-irritating to others.
  • While sprinklers may be used to water gardens, they may not be left unattended while running.
