This is an entry-level class in the Wastewater Operator Division. This class works under supervision on a training basis in the performance of a wide variety of routine unskilled to semi-skilled wastewater maintenance tasks that do not require previous wastewater experience. The class is responsible for monitoring wastewater treatment processes, adjusting chemical or physical processes, maintaining logs and records, and general system maintenance. General work is observed and reviewed during performance and upon completion and changes in procedures or exceptions to rules are explained in detail as they arise. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision. Weekend, holiday and after hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies. Requires a high school diploma or General Education Diploma. Must obtain Florida Department of Enviromental Protection “C” license in Wastewater Plant Operations within 24 months of hire date. Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Employee must live within a 20-mile radius of the Leesburg city limits due to on-call rotation requirement.
