The purpose of the class is to perform routine manual work in both Wastewater Collections and Stormwater divisions.  This class is responsible for service work such as digging trenches, cleaning ditches; assists with installation of fixtures such as pipes, valves, fittings, and manholes; landscape, road, sidewalk, driveway restoration and other outdoor work.  Completes logs or routine records.  The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision. Weekend, holiday and after hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies.

Apprentice – $12.83 - $18.81 per hour
Requires a high school diploma or General Education Diploma(GED).  Must obtain Class “C” Wastewater Collections Certificate, MOT Approved Certification (City can provide training, but preferred at time of hire) and Confined Space Entry (City can provide training, but preferred at time of hire) within 18 months of hire.  Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.  Must obtain a Class B Commerical Driver's License(CDL) permit w/tanker within 3 months of hire and license with no restrictions within 6 months of employment.  Employee must live within a 20-mile radius of the intersection of Main Street and 14th Street in Leesburg due to the on-call rotation requirement.

 
Each level below requires a high school, GED, and formal training, special courses, or self-educated equivalent to satisfying completion of one year of college educated or specialized advanced training in the Wastewater Collections field.  Must live within a 20-mile radius of the intersection of Main Street and 14th Street in Leesburg due to on-call rotation requirement.  May mentor and assist in training of less experienced operations staff.  Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices.  Minimum requirements are as follows:

 Technician A – $18.17 - $26.69 per hour
 Requires 10,400 hours of experience in Stormwater.  Must possess a valid Class “A” Certificate in Wastewater Collections and a valid Class “C” Stormwater Certificate.  Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida Class “A” CDL driver’s license with tanker endorsement and no restrictions and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.  Confined Space Entry Competency Training, MOT Approved Certification.
 
Technician B - $16.18 - $23.75 per hour
Requires 6,240 hours of experience in Wastewater Collections.  Must possess a valid Class “B” Certificate in Wastewater and a valid Class “C” Stormwater Certificate.  Confined Space Entry Competency Training, MOT Approved Certification.  Must obtain a valid State of Florida Class “A” CDL (no restrictions) permit with a tanker endorsement within 3 months of hire and license within 6 months of hire and satisfactory driving record as a condition of continued employment.  
 
Technician C - $14.97 - $21.98 per hour
Requires 2,080 hours of experience in Wastewater Collections.  Must possess a valid Class “C” Certificate in Wastewater Collections.  Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class “B” CDL with tanker endorsement and no restriction driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Confined Space Entry Competency Training, MOT Approved Certification.   Must obtain a Class “C” Stormwater Certification within 18 months of hire
