• YOUTH BASKETBALL •

Start Smart Basketball: Ages 3-5
Start Smart Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball. The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/ability.
Registration: September 1st – October 16th
Parent Meeting: Wednesday, October 16th at 6pm
Class Start: Wednesday, October 23rd at 6pm
Class End: Wednesday, November 27th
Fee: $30.00

Bitty Ball Basketball: Ages 5-6
Bitty Ball Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work as a team. The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/ability. The will play 4 on 4 full court games, on 8-foot goals.
Registration: September 1st – November 15th
Team Placement: Tuesday, October 15th at 6pm
Games: Tuesdays, & Thursdays
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Fee: $35.00

Junior Basketball: Ages 7-9
Junior Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work as a team.  The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility. They will play 5 on 5 full court games, on 10-foot goals.
Registration: October 1st - December 31st
Team Placement: Tuesday, January 7th at 6pm
Games: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Fee: $35.00

Hot Shots Basketball: Ages 10-12
Hot Shots Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work as a team.  The program focuses on teaching children skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility. They will play 5 on 5 full court games, on 10-foot goals.
Registration: October 1st – December 31st
Team Placement: Tuesday, January 7th at 6pm
Games: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays
Time: 7:00-8:00pm
Fee: $35.00

• YOUTH BASEBALL / SOFTBALL •
Baseball Player Eligibility Date for Age May 1st, 2020
Softball Player Eligibility Date for Age Jan. 1st, 2020

Babe Ruth Girls Fastpitch Softball 10U, 12U, 16U.
League oriented play designed to incrementally introduce new elements of the game as youth progress through the age divisions. Games are throughout the week and Saturdays. Local travel within the county will be required. Travel to neighboring counties may be required on Saturdays. Home games played at Sleepy Hollow recreation complex. Depending on registration numbers, only one team may be fielded per age group or some age divisions could be combined.
Registration: December 2nd – February 14th
Games & Practices:  Mondays & Wednesdays / Tuesday & Thursday (possible Saturdays)
Team Placement: Tuesday, February 18th (10U/12U) & Wednesday, February 19th(16U)
Practices:  Mondays & Wednesdays/Tuesday & Thursday (possible Saturdays)

T-Ball ages 5-6
T-Ball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized baseball while they work as a team.  The program focuses on teaching children skills in batting, throwing/catching, and running/agility.

Team first practice:  Thursday, February 6th
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Leesburg Cap League: Ages 7 – 8 (Machine League): 
This is a league designed to orient players in the game of baseball, sportsmanship, and group participation. This is a pitching machine league which encourages hitting without the fear of being hit by the pitch.
Registration: December 1st – January 31st
Team Placement: Tuesday, February 4th
Games: Tuesdays &Thursdays
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Fee: $35.00

Leesburg Cal Ripken Minor League: Ages 9-10
This program is designed to teach players the   fundamentals of baseball, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Registration: December 1st – January 31st
Team Placement: Monday, February 3rd
Games: Mondays & Wednesdays
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Fee: $35.00
Location: Susan Street Complex

Leesburg Cal Ripken Major League: Ages 11-12
Player’s begin playing baseball like the major leagues. The field is enlarged and runners will be allowed to lead off.

Games: Mondays & Wednesdays
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Leesburg Babe Ruth League: Ages 13-15
This activity will instruct teenage boys in various baseball skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline. Games will be played on nights that the LHS baseball team is not playing.
Registration: December 1st – January 31st   
Team Placement: TBD 
Games: Scheduled around the Leesburg JV High School schedule
Time: 6:30pm - 9:00pm

• START SMART SPORTS DEVELOPMENT •

Start Smart Sports Development: Ages 3-4
The Start Smart Sports Development Program is a proven instructional program that prepares children for the world of organized sports, without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.  Parents work together, with their children, in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills: throwing, catching, kicking, and batting.  Held once a week for 6 weeks; each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement.
Registration: December 1st - January 21st
Parent Meeting: Wednesday, January, 22nd at 6pm
Practices: Monday; January 27 at 6pm
Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm
Fee: $30.00 resident

Start Smart Sports Development: Ages 5-7

Parents work with their children to work on a sport each week. Sports covered include football, golf, tennis, soccer, and baseball.  Held once a week for 6 weeks; each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement.

Leesburg Bridge Club:  All ages
The Leesburg Bridge club is open to everyone that loves to play bridge and wishes to test their skills as well as form lifelong partnerships.  Please show up 15 minutes prior to the start time, and bringing a partner is preferred.
Classes Meet: Tuesdays 1pm – 4pm
Location: Cultural Arts Room
Fee: No cost to participate

Dog Obedience Classes: at least 4 months old
Are you looking to teach your K9 companion some manners? Well look no further. The City of Leesburg partnered with Sit and Stay dog training to offer 2 levels of dog training.
Registration: August 1st – October 3rd
Classes Meet: Saturdays 9am & 10:30am class times
Location: Leesburg Shuffleboard Courts
Fee: $125 for 8 week session

Yoga in the Square
Yoga in the Square is here in Leesburg! The Leesburg Recreation Department and Evolve Yoga & Fitness have partnered to offer a weekly Yoga in the Square program. Classes are held every Saturdaymorningat 10:30am in Towne Square of Downtown Leesburg. Classes are FREE to attend!
Bring your own yoga mat and water. Extra mats are available for those without a mat. These one-hour classes will be instructed by certified yoga instructors from Evolve Yoga & Fitness of Downtown Leesburg. This is a program for students who are new to yoga, as well as those who want to grow their practice from a strong foundation of postural alignment & skillful breathing. All shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities are welcome in this class.
Voluntary donations will be accepted for a LOCAL non-profit organizations each class.

Mobile Art Studio
Get creative and Create ART on every Wednesday during school months, from 3 to 5pm at the Leesburg Recreation Complex (City Gym).
The Leesburg Center for the Arts will lead participants in art related projects. Learn fun facts about famous artists and the how to in art techniques while creating your very own piece of art.

Indoor Pickleball: All Ages
This is your chance to come inside and play   pickleball without the outside elements. 3 indoor courts are set up for open play. Indoor balls and loaner paddles are available. All skill levels are   welcome to participate.
Registration: Anytime
Program Date:  Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Leesburg Recreation Gymnasium
Fee: $20 for a year pass or $2 per visit


• ADULT PROGRAMS • 

Winter Adult Basketball: Ages 16+ and 35+ 
The purpose of this league is to offer an opportunity to participate and have fun in a structured sports program.  We realize that individuals and teams are interested in various levels of competition and we hope that these basketball leagues offer an opportunity for everyone. There are two leagues that will play on Sunday afternoons.
Registration: November 1st   – January 6th
Games: TBA  
Time: 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Fee: $150 team fee / $15 per player after 6 players.


SPECIAL EVENTS •

6th Annual Holiday Baseball Camp
The Leesburg Recreation, in conjunction with the Lake Sumter State College and Leesburg High School baseball coaches and players, are conducting the 6th annual Leesburg Recreation Department holiday baseball/softball clinic. The clinicians for this two day clinic are coaches, players, and former player from LSSC and LHS. The sessions in this clinic are developed for all levels of ability. The clinic also serves as the kick off to the 2020 spring baseball/softball signups. Check in for the clinic begin at 8:30am Thursday the 26th, clinic will run from 9am-12pm Thursday and Friday December 26 & 27. 2nd Annual Leesburg Recreation Scholarship Golf Tournament 
The Leesburg Recreation Scholarship golf tournament raises money to support the Leesburg Recreation Department scholarship program. The City of Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department strives to make our programs affordable for everyone. The LRD scholarship program has allowed many to enjoy programs that may not otherwise be able to. Lunch, golf, golf carts, range balls and light snacks at the conclusion of the 18 holes are included. Sponsorships are available at $100 per hole or a package that includes a hole sponsor and a foursome for $300. Come out and enjoy a day on the links while supporting the youth of Leesburg.
