Public Meeting - Venetian Gardens Ski Beach Enhancements
The City of Leesburg’s Public Works Department will host a public meeting on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Leesburg Community Building, 109 E. Dixie Avenue. City staff and contractors will present a project overview of the Venetian Gardens Master Plan, Phase II Enhancements to Ski Beach. The meeting will be in an open house format with a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m. Project information will be on display. The public is invited to attend.
The conceptual plan, approved and funded by the City Commission in August of 2016, includes a paved road, parking, boat ramp, boat dock, truck and trailer parking, public restroom, sidewalk, decorative fence along Lakeshore Drive, decorative lighting and landscaping. Phase II also includes a new pedestrian bridge connecting Rogers Park to the other islands. Staff is seeking comments on the conceptual plan.
In Dec. 2016 the City created three beach areas along the shore of Venetian Cove. The project included installing more than 108 cubic yards of sand resulting in 6,000 square feet of beach area. These beaches further improve Venetian Gardens aesthetics, while providing a place for boaters to beach their vessels.
One or more City Commissioners may attend the meeting. Persons with disabilities needing assistance to participate in any of the proceedings should contact the Human Resources Department ADA Coordinator 48 hours in advance of the meeting at (352)728-9740.
