Leesburg Electric continues rate relief for customers

LEESBURG, FL - To provide continued financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Leesburg will extend the fuel savings reduction for all electric customers through July.

Leesburg Electric reduced the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) to $0.00 per kWh effective May 1, 2020. This reduction provides an approximate 9% reduction in monthly electric costs for the typical residential customer.

The original reduction was planned for May and June. However, City staff has reviewed fuel savings and determined the rate relief can continue until the end of July.

“We continually look for ways to reduce electric expenses while still providing a high level of service,” said City Manager Al Minner.  “With the financial impacts our community is facing due to COVID, we are very happy to extend the fuel cost savings.”

Customers who are having trouble paying their utility bill are encouraged to contact Customer Service at 352-728-9800 to set up a payment plan to avoid disconnection. Late fees will continue to be waived until further notice.
