Leesburg announces new all-way stop intersections on Pine Street

LEESBURG, FL – The Leesburg Public Works Department is converting four intersections along Pine Street to all-way stops.  The changes are being made to address pedestrian safety and traffic concerns.

On January 19, four-way stops signs will be installed at the intersections of Pine Street/Childs Street and Pine Street/Rambo Street. Three-way stops will be installed at the intersections of Pine Street/Mike Street and Pine Street/Knott Street.

Temporary message boards to alert drivers to the new signs will be positioned on Pine Street near the affected intersections. The boards will remain in place for two weeks.

The intersection signs leading into the pedestrian walkway that crosses Pine Street near UF Health Leesburg will include permanent flashing warning lights as an extra safety measure.

Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to use extra caution while navigating these areas as everyone learns the new traffic patterns.

For questions or additional information, please contact Deputy Director of Public Works Amy Fleck at 352-435-9442.
