Utility Service Just Got Better

Utility Service Just Got Better

The City of Leesburg has reduced costly residential utility deposits in an ongoing effort to improve service for customers.

The City Commission voted last Monday night to approve policies that restructure deposits for residential customers. New customers will pay lower deposit fees of $200 for electric service, $50 for water service and $50 for gas. Deposits will be credited to customers after 24 months of good payment history. Existing customers with good history also will receive credit of their utility deposits by the end of the year.

Utility deposits will be waived for residential customers who sign up for 12 months of auto-pay – a convenient service using Leesburg’s automatic bill payment system.

In another effort to help customers, Leesburg now allows payments at convenient locations around the city without the need to visit City Hall. Cash payments can be made free of service charges at all Amscot store locations including two in Leesburg at 1100 W. North Blvd. and 10300 U.S. Highway 441.

All payments types – cash, credit, check or money order – can be made with a convenience fee at these Fidelity Express sites:

• 7 Star Discount, 2005 W. Main St.
• 7 Star Discount, 103 N. Dixie Ave.
