Celebrate July 4th in Leesburg with baseball and fireworks

LEESBURG, FL -  A baseball game, water ski show, Tom Petty Tribute Band, plenty of food, family activities and the area’s most spectacular fireworks display are all part of Leesburg’s upcoming Fourth of July Celebration.

The huge event will begin at 6 p.m. in beautiful Venetian Gardens, 201 E. Dixie Ave. on the north shore of Lake Harris. A special fireworks display choreographed to music by the famous Zambelli Fireworks Co. will begin at 9:15 p.m. Viewing areas are available all around the park. A boat tailgate party will be located between Monkey Island and the boat ramp.

The Leesburg Lightning – two time champions of the Florida Collegiate Summer League – will challenge the Sanford River Rats starting at 5:30 p.m. at Pat Thomas Stadium. The stadium also provides ideal seating to watch the fireworks.

A free Kid’s Play Zone will include inflatables, dino dig, face painting and photo booth. Food vendors will serve up hamburgers, funnel cakes and more. Enjoy free ice cream while it lasts beginning at 7:00 p.m. The splash pad will be open 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. with the standard admission fee of $2.00.

The Leesburg Police Department asks that all pedestrians cross Dixie Avenue only at the traffic lights at Canal Street or 9th Street.  Crossing guards will be stationed at these intersections.
